Features of the traditional red wine glass
Traditional red wine glasses are usually larger in design. Red wine is more intense in terms of body and aroma, so it needs a larger surface to make the aroma of the wine better. Narrow mouth and wide belly is a classic design in red wine glasses. The narrow mouth is to make the aroma of the wine gather at the mouth of the glass, and it is not easy to dissipate, so as to fully taste the wine and fruit aroma; the wide belly is to allow the red wine to fully contact the air. The popular wine glasses are all small and exquisite styles, and now the fashionable pot-bellied glasses are more magnificent and gorgeous in the hand.
Red wine glasses can be basically divided into two categories, namely Bordeaux glasses and Burgundy glasses, which are designed for different grape varieties produced in the two regions.
In terms of appearance design, the body of the white wine glass is slightly slender and the arc is larger than that of the red wine glass, but the overall height is lower than that of the red wine glass. Because white wines are slightly lighter on the palate and taste, they don’t need a larger belly to release the aroma of the wine.
Depending on the grape variety, there are roughly three common types of white wine glasses: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling. Since Sauvignon Blanc is a refreshing and sweet wine, the opening and belly of the wine glass are relatively small, so that the wine will flow into the tip of the tongue instantly, so that the mouth is surrounded by the floral and fruity aroma of the wine, thereby diluting the acidity of the wine body ; The Chardonnay glass is relatively larger in the opening and belly of the glass, its wine body is relatively full, and it is suitable to use a round belly-shaped wine glass; while the Riesling wine glass is higher on the belly of the glass, its wine body is in acidity. Slightly better, this design can slow down the flow of wine into the mouth.
