The purpose of sobering up
Most wines are drinkable straight from the bottle. But some wines need to go through a decanter to better express their quality and character. Decanters can improve the quality of wine in two major ways:
First of all, after sobering, effective filtration eliminates the sediment in the wine and the broken wine cork that occasionally scattered in the wine when the wine is opened. At the same time, through a series of actions of sobering, the wine is effectively oxidized. This oxidation process makes the wine more rounded and accelerates the maturity of the wine.
When wine produces sediments due to aging, it is almost always necessary to use decanting to eliminate these harmless but unpleasant sediments. Depending on the type and age of wine, the use of different decanters and the length of decanting time are also different.
